What is Probate? Probate is a Court supervised process that verifies a decedent’s Will, appoints the personal representative or executor named in the Will and authorizes him/her to act on behalf of the Estate, protects creditors and allows for the transfer of titled assets from the decedent to the devisees named in the Will.
How much does Probate Cost? The cost of probate varies drastically from estate to estate depending on many factors including the size of the estate, property/businesses owned, the number of creditors and whether or not the devisees are in agreement. Average probate costs are $2,500.00+/-.
How Long Does Probate Take? The length of probate varies dramatically, but takes at least five months to complete and generally takes between six and nine months.
